Discovering Calle Beatas
Calle Beatas is a charming, winding side street in Málaga’s central district. If you happen to wander down this path, you'll find one of the city’s vibrant nightlife spots. This area is not overly rowdy. Instead, it hums with a variety of international restaurants and excellent bars. It is the perfect location for La Destilería, one of the best cocktail bars in the city.

A Modern Cocktail Experience
La Destilería ticks all the boxes for a modern cocktail bar. It has a cozy and stylish atmosphere with perfect ambient lighting. The passionate and knowledgeable mixologists are always ready to craft the perfect drink. The music is well-selected and played at just the right volume. The décor is cool, yet warm and inviting.
The bar has a subtle theme that nods to the hip-hop and R&B classics that play throughout the night. This adds a creative and genuine touch. It reflects a love for both well-blended spirits and great music, giving the bar its unique personality and charm.
A Menu Inspired by Music
The cocktail menu at La Destilería is inspired by banger anthems. It offers ingenious riffs on classic cocktails. For those who prefer familiar flavors, popular drinks like espresso martinis and pornstar martinis are available with a twist. Our server provided a thorough breakdown of the processes and flavors for each cocktail we were interested in. Their dedication to the craft was evident.

I tried the “Welcome to Jam Rock,” a rum riff on a Negroni. It was well-balanced and served with a plantain chip garnish, allowing for a delightful mix of savory and sweet. Although I’m not usually a rum drinker, this cocktail hit the spot. My drinking companion, James, opted for a "Classic" – a rum riff on a Martinez, one of the original cocktails popularized in the 1860s and 1870s. The first time I tried a Martinez was in this very bar, and it was fantastic. James's drink was blended with premium spirits and also hit the mark. There are no misses here, so just go for it.
The Bartenders' Bar
James, known as the Cocktail Sherpa, calls La Destilería the bartender’s bar. Why? By 3 AM, fellow hospitality workers from Málaga gather here to unwind after their shifts, enjoying expertly crafted drinks.
This bar is the kind of spot you want to return to. It has a community vibe that is hard to resist. When we arrived at 11:30 PM, we easily found a seat. However, by 1:00 AM, only a few seats remained in this hidden gem. A tip for visitors: if La Destilería is on your radar, arrive early to secure your spot.
Conclusion
La Destilería is more than just a bar; it is an experience. From the carefully crafted cocktails to the welcoming atmosphere, it stands out in Málaga’s nightlife scene. Whether you're a cocktail aficionado or just looking for a great night out, this bar promises to deliver.
